Yummy Summer Reading
I admit it. Sometimes good books give me writer envy.
Why can’t I write award-winning literature like this?
But not these titles.
These books are sublime and exquisite and inventive and thought-provoking and make me grateful to be a reader. No room for envy. Just awe.
As my husband says, “Chapeau.”

Which reminds me… I wrote something. “Dancing on the Blade” received the 2021 San Francisco Foundation/Nomadic Press nonfiction award and was published this week in Under the Sun. You can read it here.
This essay isn’t for everyone. In fact, it comes with a content warning. I wrote it after dancing a healing ritual for Oakland’s sex-trafficked youth during the summer months of the pandemic.
